Quotes and Lyrics Challenge

quote and lyrics ‘Smile’

On the Craft Barn blog there is a new challenge running for this year, all the details can be found here. Briefly this challenge is to use one or both of the words posted, the words are to be in a quote or lyrics. The words for this first fortnight are ‘Up’ and ‘Smile’ and I decided to use both of them on either side of a 4 x 4 inch piece of card to make up into a book later.  The ‘Up’ words appear within the lyrics of the song from Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes – a favourite song of mine. The ‘Smile’ quotes are from the internet; in fact there were so many lovely quotes I couldn’t choose just one. Leslie made a book that I won on her giveaway many moons ago that is my quote book, any saying that touches a chord is written into that book.

Supplies used :

Stamps – Creative Expressions crackle

               – Art Impressions G689 Trees

             –     PaperArtsy plate 5 Letter

             –   Inkylicious  Oriental Awakening birds

Inks – Versamagic Mango, Persimmon, Red Magic

                 – Distress Ink  Broken China, Bundled Sage

                 – Whispers Green Leaf, Rio Purple

                 – Archival Black

Thank you for looking x

Love your mountain scene! Very good idea to make a double sided page for the 2 quotes of the challenge too.

  2. These are two beautiful pages.

  3. The mountain scene is beautiful. Such a tranquil and majestic scene you have set up. The song lyrics you have attached to the scene is a good choice. I like your other one as well, the one with the two “smile” quotes. Although the man could use a bit of it on his face, I like the stamps you have used. You are really good with color on your white paper creations.

    Love you – Leslie

  4. Beautiful pages Lynn and I just love those quotes. Kxx

  5. OOOhhh Love them!!!! Would love to see the book when done too. Fantastic!!

  6. Love your mountain and your eagles flying! Great idea to do both words back-to-back – it’ll make a lovely book!

  7. yaay! I’m so glad you’re taking part. Love both pages, fab BG on the Smile page.

  8. Lovely pages, I think I just may check out that blog challenge. I need some inspiration! Wonderful job.

  9. Hi there, thanks for the visit on my White ink pads post. My goto gold is Encore Metallic Gold, first one I ever bought, and I got the re-inker too at the same time, so its been going for about 10 years now! I usually use it with Stamp N Stuff gold detail powder, which gives a good gold colour, I find the colour a little’ flat’ with clear powder. I have the Galaxy Gold, and as you say, its not as gold as it could be. I think though, especially after trying the whites, it does seem as if the embossing powder is as important as the ink. I was very surprised at how ‘off white’ my usual detail white powder came out. Have a good day, Hugs, Shaz xx

  10. Love the mountain and eagles with the song lyrics they fit perfectly. I like the smile quote about the happiness under your own nose I will have to copy it on my quotes page in my planner. Thanks for sharing your master pieces :)
    Love and hugs

  11. Two fab quotes and amazing backgrounds, love how you have hand written your quotes and lyrics onto your cards. A book at the end of the year is a fab idea :-) xxx

  12. I like your idea of using both prompts, one on either side. I could do that on my bookmarks too. Food for thought. I love your quote from Mother Theresa – one for my notebook.

  13. Fabulous pages. x

  19. Sorry Lynn, I’m way behind with comments. So glad that you are joining in the challenge this year. Two lovely pages to start your book. I particularly like your tranquil mountain scene and the song you have chosen is a favourite of mine too.
