Q&L #5 Road and Art

Over at The Craft Barn the quote and lyric challenge this fortnight is Road and /or Art. So far I have been able to use both words of the challenge; I try to find a song lyric for one side of the 4 x 4 inch card and a suitable quote for the other. When I first saw the new words a line from a song immediately popped into my mind but it took a few days for an image to hatch!

Nowhere really does exist!

Nowhere really does exist!

All I can remember of the song is just this one line and that is from the ‘chorus’! After mulling for a few days it suddenly occurred to me that we had visited Nowhere; it is a tiny area on St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly (highlighted in yellow on the map) and of course I couldn’t resist adding the hedgehogs! The background is a piece of shaving foam marbled paper – shaving foam with alcohol inks dripped in and mixed – the copy paper used the second generation inks.

Supplies used:

Inks – Versamagic Hint of Pesto

         – Distress Ink Black soot

         – Archival Jet Black

        – Memento Rich Cocoa

Stamps – Inkylicious Take Flight

               – Cute Companions grasses

                – Penny Black Tiny Wishes

               – PaperArtsy birds and branches

              -Tree unknown!

This is a bit of a wishy washy piece but there wasn’t enough time to re-do it so it has to stand!

Supplies used:

Inks – various Versamagic

Stencil – Imagination Crafts Flourish

Stamp by Stampin’ Up (Thank you Leslie!!)

Q&L #4

Over at the Craft Barn blog the Quote and Lyric challenge’s words are Marriage and Age, those entering can use either word or both; I have tried to use both so I came up with a quote on one side of the 4 x 4 inch and a lyric for the other side.

My first offering – Age  – is a quote by Oscar Wilde, just love this quote. Not sure whether this is ironic or did he have his tongue firmly in his cheek?

On white smooth card stock (measuring 3.75 x 3.75 inches) various shades of Versamagic Chalk Inks were used for the background and for the stamped flourishes (manufacturer unknown). The lady is a download from the internet. The faux stitches were done with red and black fine liner pens.

The second side is a song lyric Let’s Stick Together by Bryan Ferry.

Again various shades of Versamagic Chalk inks were used for the background and the foliage stamp. The silhouette is another internet download with black fine liner pen for the faux stitching. Both pieces of card stock were mounted onto a black square of card measuring 4 x 4 inches.
