Cute Easter boxes

Easter was never an occasion that we, as a family, swapped gifts. We gave little chocolate treats to our children and that was it but it seems that these days the children are inundated with eggs of every description! Our younger grandchildren are not overly keen on chocolate yet are given a huge pile of chocolate eggs that their mothers end up using as toppings for cakes. So I thought I’d do something simple for the little ‘uns and so made these origami boxes with a cover created from Centura Pearl card from Crafters Companion

Just added some cute furry critters on top courtesy of Tesco together with a name tag and filled with sweeties. Job done!

Q&L #7

Hello!I was so pleased to see my name appear on the Wall of Fame over at The Craft Barn for my Q&L #6 piece of the VW camper!   Many thanks to everyone who left a comment, this is much appreciated.

The words for challenge number 7 of The Craft Barn Quotes and Lyrics challenge are Change and/or Truth. David Bowie’s Changes was the only song lyric to come to mind for this one but being a bit of a Bowie fan that was okay! My hubby thinks I have weird tastes when it comes to music lol.

This was quite an easy one as part of the verse is ‘Time may change me But I can’t trace Time’ so having plenty of clock stamps that made life so simple!

Ch-ch-ch-changes!

Supplies:

Inks – Distress Inks Spiced Marmalade

                                         Vintage Photo

                                          Victorian Velvet

                Archival       Jet Black

Stamps – PaperArtsy Plate 5

                  Art Journey Clocks

Truth

This was a bit of a tricky one, finding quotes I liked with the word truth! When in doubt turn to either Shakespeare or Voltaire, both of these pen masters provided us with plenty of quotes. Voltaire was my inspiration for the second side and gave me a good quote – ‘Love Truth, and pardon error’.

Voltaire a sublime master of the pen

For some reason this has come out lighter than it actually is (Did I split an infinitive there?? No place else for the ‘actually’ to go LOL).

Supplies:

Inks – Distress Ink Dusty Concord

                                      Chipped Sapphire

           Archival         Jet Black

Stamps – PaperArtsy plate 5

spring flowers

Ever since watching Debbie Shore make one of this lovely little potted fabric flowers I have been itching to make one.  I found some lovely fat quarters at The Range in Kidderminster and finally managed to get around to making one.

I didn’t have any dowel for the stem so had to use three wooden skewers glued together! No one would know though as it is covered in spotted ribbon. These are such cheerful little flowers and hope you will have a go!

Each ‘petal’ is made from a 4.5 inch circle of fabric, a running stitch is sewn around the edge of the circle and pulled slightly to gather the circle and then each circle is stuffed with polyester filling and the stitches then pulled tight. Debbie Shore’s Youtube video can be seen at this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Br4jrqMg5BQ&list=UUckNZPliaYRx10bUbvVTQCA

Debbie Shore has some lovely videos and great projects.

Another make I had a go at is this pincushion using a baby’s food jar as a base:

Q&L #6

I know we have a fortnight for this Craft Barn challenge but the time seems to fly past at a high rate of knots! Now there is a goodly confusion of mixed wotsits – I don’t think flight is measured in knots is it??

Many thanks for all the lovely people who have visited and left comments, all are appreciated and I am sorry for not getting around to visiting everyone’s posts. Also apologies for those whose work I cannot comment on who post on Pinterest, Facebook and G+.

Flower Power

Flower Power

The words this fortnight are Flower(s) and/or Travel over on the Craft Barn challenge . My goal is to try and use both words so we will kick off with the Flower(s); one or two other participants have use these lyrics however I make no apology for using the same lyrics, this song popped into mind as soon as I saw the words.

I downloaded part of a map showing San Francisco from the internet, the microbus (popularly known as a VW Camper but my DH who worked on these always called them by the maker’s name ) is also a downloaded image. The base is 300gsm smooth white card inked up with Distress inks Bundled Sage and Broken China; stamps are from a Cute Companions set inked up with a Colorbox Primary colours and then extra colour added with Remel pencils. The text is computer generated. Faux stitching added with a black fine tipped pen. The square of white card is mounted onto black card.

Now for something completely different!

Travels with a donkey in Cevennes

Travels with a donkey in Cevennes

I love this Robert Louis Stevenson story, it is amusingly written and tells, in part, of his woes with Modestine, his donkey, and her willful ways. For those who don’t know the story Stevenson set off to walk through the Cevennes region of France in autumn hence the muted colours. Again the image is downloaded from the internet and computer generated text. The inks are mainly Versamagic and Colorbox primary with the birds from Inkylicious Take Flight set stamped in black Archival. The red leaves are another Inkylicious stamp Oriental Awakening but I have no idea who to credit for the pine trees. Again the scene is on 300gsm smooth white card and the mounted onto black card.

I am thoroughly enjoying this challenge and hope to keep up with it! I also must visit more folks posts.
