Quotes & Lyrics #10

Number 10 of the Craft Barn’s quote and lyrics challenge is here and I am tail end Charlie again! The words this fortnight are Passion and/or Music and I had found a quote I liked almost immediately that Craft Barn had posted the words, I’d also found two images and knew which song I wanted to use so why the delay??? I am helping our daughter on her craft stall on Sunday and she suggested I bring a few things along to sell so I’ve been busy stitching so now you know why the delay!

The song that came to mind for the Music prompt is probably one of the easiest however I decided to use part of one of the verses to go with the image I found rather than the title of the song – Thanks for the music by Abba

The lovely image came from a tattoo site but suited the lyrics well I felt.

Supplies:

Stencils  by Glitzcraft Owl and Wildflower 1

Inks – Versamagic – Mango Madness, Red Magic

            Distress Ink – Spiced Marmalade

            Brilliance – Pearlescent Thyme

Stamps – Inkylicious Oriental awakening

                  Artemio Music notes

White and black card from stash

Passion

When I look at the lovely pieces of art others have created for the Craft Barn challenge I wonder which came first – the image or the quote? For my second piece it was definitely the quote and then I went hunting for an image to go with it as, again, I didn’t have a suitable stamp.

Passionate dancers

Passionate dancers

Not the best piece I have created, still it is my rubbish! I still haven’t got the hang of aligning mats straight nor is cutting straight my forte – hey ho! I wanted to keep this piece as clutter free as possible so that the silhouetted dancers stood out and added a touch of red for passion!

Supplies:

Stencil – Glitzcraft Hibiscus Trellis

Ink – Memento London fog

          Versamagic Red Magic

           Colorbox Primary

Thanks for looking x

  1. I love your silhouetted dancers, the trellis effect floor and the lovely red shading behind them. A fab image to go with your quote. The section of the ABBA song you have used is great but I think you need to have the word music somewhere to qualify.

Such a shame you couldn’t link up both of these lovely pieces to the craft barn. Wonder why they closed it early. I like the ‘tail end Charlie’, it’s much nicer than what they say around these parts – ‘The coo’s tail’ – Lol 😀
At least your second piece has the word Passion on it for the challenge. That is a fab quote and the silhouette is perfect. You were quite right to keep it simple.
Thank you so much for the kind words on my blog. Enjoy the rest of the weekend 😀
ps- hope your daughter’s craft sale was a success 🙂

  3. Lynn… Your rubbish is my goal… 😉 I love both of these so much. Hope your craft sale goes real well too.
    xoxo April

  4. At least it wasn’t just me being late LOL 🙂 Love both of your cards – the tattoo pic is gorgeous but then the dancing couple are too … Good luck with the sale hope you and DD have fun xx

  5. Super pieces, love your tattoo birdy. Shame about the link closing prematurely isn’t it? BJ

Love both cards, the one with the bird with attitude is fun and the dancers look great against the soft background. I can’t cut straight either andI’am still searching for THE tool which will make cutting straight foolproof…

  7. What a shame you couldn’t link up, Thought there were a few less entries than normal. I love both your cards though with your subtle use of shading in the background.
Have you tried the perfect layers rulers for matting and layering. I showed them to the ladies at my craft group and they loved them so much they now all have a set of their own.We are having a layering lesson this Saturday so will also be blogging on them after.

  8. Hi 🙂 have extended the linky on the Q & L Challenge to June 2nd so you can post your work which we would all love to see SharonXX

Forgive me if I have not commented in the past, but it took me forever to see where the comment box was!

Both of your pieces are lovely! I think I approach the challenges by finding the quote I like and then figuring out how to illustrate it. Either way, not always an easy task!

  10. These two offerings are wonderful! You have a way of creating a scene with your leaf and branch stamps that look so real. The happy bird as the focal image is delightful.

I like the muted red background you have for the dancers. Red hot Tango 😀

You are working your stash collection, as well as your quote and lyric compilation, to the fullest. Love your take on these challenges.

Enjoy your time with your daughter at the sale. Hope you sell all your creations.

    Love you – Leslie

    • You are too kind Leslie but I love you 🙂 I didn’t do too badly at the craft sale, didn’t sell out but did come home with a few coins 🙂

      Lots of love xxxx

  11. So glad the link was extended so could get to see your fabulous work. I also got caught out by the naughty Mr Linky but managed to post acter Sharon gave us extra time!

Both your entries are gorgeous, each one has a colourful CAS vibe which is hard to achieve.

I get my lyric or quote first then create the iCard. This Week was the first time i knew beyond doubt which image i wanted to use, usually it takes a while for the lightbulb moment lol 🙂 xxx

  12. Two fabulous entries, Lynn and so pleased you were finally able in the end to link them to the site. Love the background on your first piece. Your second is very striking – I do love a silhouette.

  13. These are two fantastic creations.
