F with a twist

It is time for the Craft Barn alpha/dictionary challenge. I’m sneaking this one in only a smidgeon ahead of the deadline! We had to come up with something beginning with the letter ‘F’ but there had to be a heart in the mix somewhere. My first heart didn’t show up as a proper defined heart so had to add a small line of green hearts at the top right corner.

Dictionary 02-16 F with a heart

I was also able to use up a few things from my craft stash that have been hanging around for more years than I care to think about! The three fans and the gold string beads have been lurking in a drawer for too long.

Materials:

Graphic 45 pearls of Wisdom paper from the Bird Song Collection

Distress Inks – Cracked Pistachio; Mermaid Lagoon; Abandoned Coral.

Stamp – Stamp Addict and small heart was a free stamp from Craft Stamper magazine.

Fans and gold beads from craft stash.

Postcard

Over at UK Stampers the theme for February’s postcard is a song title or lyrics; I almost forgot this swap as we were having our bathroom done – it was totally gutted but is now, after a week, fully operational again! So having to contend with the plumber coming and going plus one mischievous puppy the swap flew out of my head.

I chose ‘Tea for Two’ for my theme, a very old song but I had been given some stamps of teapot and cups so now was the time to ink them up.02-16 Song titles

I have no idea who is the maker of these stamps. The text background and teabag stamp is from the Scene-velopes set. The ‘table’ is created by die cutting a piece of funky foam and inking up with Distress ink Vintage photo and stamping it in place after masking the teapot and cups.

Materials:

Inks – Distress Inks Vintage Photo; Fossilised Amber; Peacock Feathers.

Archival Jet Black

Stamps – Scene-velopes

Die cut oval shape

Computer generated text.

C is for …..

Don’t you just love my catchy titles??!! I am very envious of those folk who have the sort of mind to come up with witty titles.

On the UK Stampers forum for the last few months I have been joining in with the postcard and ATC swap. We are doing an alphabet theme with the letters being drawn randomly each month and this month’s letter is ‘C’ so my choice is Cats; I do love cats!

For the back ground of this first one I came across an idea on Craft Barn that one of the CB design team, Dawn Heald, had used and that was brayer liquid peals onto card stock for a background. It hadn’t occurred to me to use liquid pearls that way however my motto is try anything once. I haven’t got many colours of liquid pearls but do have some different colours in Dovecraft 3D Pearl Effects in brights so I mixed and matched with both products and the end result is very pretty with a shimmer.

The shimmer doesn’t come through in the photo but it is there – honest!

I do love those KatzelKraft cats – real cool dudes!

Q is for…..

Quilt. This is my entry for the Craft Barn Alpha/Dictionary challenge Now ‘Q’ isn’t one of the easiest letters at first sight however there many fabulous entries so far linked to the Craft Barn challenge page (follow the link above) and they made me wish I had been a bit imaginative.

For my entry I decided to go for Quilt and dutifully stitched a miniature quilt, I know my sewing won’t win any prizes; unless it’s a booby prize?!

Dictionary 02-16 Q sig

The background is black card stock cut at 4 x 4 inches, stamped with an unknown simple flower stamp and clear embossing ink and then various colours of mica powder brushed over the stamped images. The flower centres are gold candi dots and half flat backed pearls to the quilt.

Fabric scraps and toy filling, white thread

Tsukineko clear embossing ink

Mica powders

Craft Barn Weekly Challenge

Craft Barn are running a weekly challenge as well as the Alpha/Dictionary fortnightly challenge. Think this is to keep us all on our toes and make sure we don’t languish between challenges!

Anyway I have made a needed birthday card using the theme of the weekly challenge which is Triplets. Using various inks (materials listed below) on a piece of white card stock cut into three-near-as-possible-equal-sizes I stamped a flower image three times and then mounted the three pieces onto dark green card and then onto a folded A5 size of cream card stock. Made two score lines and stamped Happy Birthday between the score lines. Inside where the sentiment will go I also stamped two sets of leaves using second generation stamping and a PaperArtsy Flora and Fauna stamp
