Alpha Challenge
On the Craft Barn blog the new challenge is for a piece beginning with the letter ‘S’ and the added twist is that a shell should be on there somewhere! Well I thought I’d had a brilliant idea coming up with a fairy silhouette sitting on/in two shells but when I showed it to my DH he said it looked like the angel of death!!! He wasn’t at all impressed. Hope it generates more excitement from others:)
Materials used:
Stamps – Fairy & large shell unknown
Hero Arts Antique Engravings
Marianne Designs die and stamp set
Inks – Versafine Jet Black
Brilliance Pearlescent Thyme
Cosmic Shimmer Iridescent watercolour paint Pastel Blue
Mica Powders
Thank you for looking x
I think it’s great and very clever!
You should have chosen a naked lady to place in your shell, like Venus. Bet your hubby would have liked that! I find your page rather fun and it illustrate the word silhouette perfectly!
As I’ve no idea what the angel of death looks like, then I like what you’ve done here. Pretty cool illustration for silhouette. Original.
Your husband is a wise man, I’m sure, but this definitely doesn’t look like an angel of death. It fits your S word perfectly and adds that dreaded shell, too. I simply adore how you made everything fit, and with class, too!
It looks great to me! I never ask my hubby’s opinion on my crafting as he doesn’t ‘get it’!
Great take on the S word and I love your idea of a fairy in a shell!
When I saw the thumbnail I thought of Botticelli’s Birth of Venus straight away. I think it was an inspired choice. She looks like an angel to me but nothing to convey death. I never ask my husband’s opinion on any project because he doesn’t ‘get’ my hobby at all. Hope your back is better now.
Instantly thought of Boticelli’s Venus – especially as I’m going to that exhibition at the V&A. Anyway, I do like your image, and I think the angel of death would be more menacing!
I like your idea and it has worked very well. I agree with Kay and Scrapmate.
I like it Lynn. Tell hubby you’re not the on dark side 😉
That’s an amazing creation.
Take no notice of what Rod said, I think it’s perfect, Lynn.
You have created such an original work of art, and I am so glad to have found your blog again! I somehow have lost all my favourites!
