Archive for the tag “acetate”

Got it tagged!

I am not good at coming up with original ideas creatively speaking but neither am I good at copying someone else’s work exactly! My ideas are sparked by seeing what other people have come up with and I take bits and add my own slant to it; I am so envious of those very creative people who help to inspire me and appreciate their generosity in showing their work and even, in some cases, doing step by step tutorials.

This tag box is one such sparked idea, I had seen variations of it on various blogs including the Splitcoast Stampers forum. Splitcoast Stampers have a huge resource section to glean lots of ideas from!

The box was made from sturdy cardstock and a piece of acetate saved from packaging material made a good box sleeve to keep the tags clean.

All the tags were created from scrap cardstock which was either cut into small tag shapes or punched with a circle punch. As most of the cardstock was either ivory or white, then various coloured inks were sponged on before stamping. The top right circle above was stamped with Versamark and white detail embossing powder added before heat embossing.

A great way to use up scraps of cardstock and try out some of those smaller stamps too! This box of gift tags will be going to a good home as a small present.

Challenge card

Leslie over on her blog challenged us to make a card using embossing folders/dies/punches and there is a sketch for the challenge.

The challenge called for the use of design papers and certain placement of items which sat uneasily with me. I know of card makers who can pull out sheets of dp, ink, stamp(s), embellishments and make a card very quickly..I don’t work like that! I am an organic or dynamic crafter – great technical term! This term covers up the fact that I haven’t a clue what I’m going to do until I get there. So I tend to stamp an image or images, create a scene or whatever on a piece of cardstock (usually white) and then hope that this will serve as a spring board for a cohesive card. Lying in a box are several panels of stamped and coloured pieces ready for an idea to come forth; quite often an idea may come to mind as I am busily stamping, inking and colouring, sometimes that idea firms up or it may expand or, even, change shape completely.

Anyhow here is my card for the challenge, make of it what you will but this card took me a great deal of time lol.
