Q & L #15

Flying in by the seat of my pants again! First I lost a week and thought I’d run out of time and then discovered I still had a week which then flew past filled with all kinds of trials and tribulations.

Enough of my waffle, it is time for the Craft Barn’s quotes and lyrics number 15 challenge. The two words are Mind and /or Ignorance; as soon as I saw Mind then the song Windmills of your Mind sprang into my mind! There are many versions of this song but my favourite is sung by Noel Harrison for the 1968 film “The Thomas Crown Affair” although Sting sang the song for the later revised film.

Windmills of your Mind

Windmills of your Mind

Various shades of Versacolor and Versamagic inks were used for the background with the keys being stamped in Memento Rich Cocoa and the clock in Memento Terracotta. The windmill image was downloaded from the internet onto printer paper, cut out and coloured with watercolour pencils and adhered in place after I drew the very wobbly spiral.

Ignorance:

Ignorance

Ignorance

A very wise saying of Confucius. Wish I was as wise as he is reputed to have been.

The background was inked with Versacolor Sea Foam and Old Rose and the Artemio script stamp was inked up with Old Rose. The book/candlestick stamp (unknown) was inked with Brilliance Graphite Black and the Jenni Bowlin Pen nibs with Brilliance Pearlescent Rust.  The quote was downloaded from Brainy Quotes site.

Right off to link up before it closes 🙂

Thanks for looking, it is much appreciated x

Q&L #14

This fortnight’s words over on the Craft Barn quote and lyric challenge number 14 are Imagination and/or Logic. As soon as I saw the words I knew which quote and song lyric I would use but I couldn’t get images to come mind for the Logic word! The song “Just my imagination” by The Temptations was easy though and this is what I came up with:

Just my Imagination

Just my Imagination

Another cat stamp! Although this cat has a  pretty fierce expression on its face; I have to admit this stamp (which was given to me) wasn’t a favourite so I popped it into the grandchildren’s stamp drawer however I “unretired” it for this session! The background is coloured with Versamagic inks, the pussy cat is stamped with Brilliance Graphite Black and coloured in with a black watercolour pencil with a little pink for his ears and Posca paint pen for the tip of his tail. A fineliner pen was used for the ‘bubble’ and the tiger image was downloaded from the internet and cut out.

Logic

This one gave me days of indecision. I already had the quote but no image sprang to mind so I just grabbed a Clarity corner stamp. For the background and stamping I used Whispers Rio Purple ink. So not a lot of imagination used here at all! Sorry Albert.

Quotes and Lyrics #9

I’m still in with this challenge, now that is a miracle but now that the longer days are here it is a scramble to do posts! Doesn’t make sense? Well at this time of the year I spend more time out tending our rather large garden and less time on the internet- well that isn’t true I do spend time on the internet but by nigh time my one brain cell doesn’t function well enough to string words together for a post. Okay excuses made reasons given for dilly dallying.

A huge thank you to everyone who left lovely comments last time, I think I managed to get around to most folks blogs and, if I didn’t, many apologies.

The challenge on Craft Barn this fortnight was to use Unique and/or Fame. There are many quotes for Unique and I loved this one found on this site, my favourite site for quotes

Unique - love his hairdo!

Unique – love his hairdo!

Now isn’t that a fabulous hairdo? This fella went very well with the Orson Welles quote.

Supplies:

Inks – Versamagic Mango Madness

             Distress Ink Spiced Marmalade

Stamps – Clarity corner stamp

White and black card from stash

quote and  image from Brainy Quote

Fame

Well the only song that came to mind for this word and it had to be David Bowie (again!) Just couldn’t come up with a suitable image to complement the lyrics though; I obviously need more stamps!

Supplies:

Q&L #6

I know we have a fortnight for this Craft Barn challenge but the time seems to fly past at a high rate of knots! Now there is a goodly confusion of mixed wotsits – I don’t think flight is measured in knots is it??

Many thanks for all the lovely people who have visited and left comments, all are appreciated and I am sorry for not getting around to visiting everyone’s posts. Also apologies for those whose work I cannot comment on who post on Pinterest, Facebook and G+.

Flower Power

Flower Power

The words this fortnight are Flower(s) and/or Travel over on the Craft Barn challenge . My goal is to try and use both words so we will kick off with the Flower(s); one or two other participants have use these lyrics however I make no apology for using the same lyrics, this song popped into mind as soon as I saw the words.

I downloaded part of a map showing San Francisco from the internet, the microbus (popularly known as a VW Camper but my DH who worked on these always called them by the maker’s name ) is also a downloaded image. The base is 300gsm smooth white card inked up with Distress inks Bundled Sage and Broken China; stamps are from a Cute Companions set inked up with a Colorbox Primary colours and then extra colour added with Remel pencils. The text is computer generated. Faux stitching added with a black fine tipped pen. The square of white card is mounted onto black card.

Now for something completely different!

Travels with a donkey in Cevennes

Travels with a donkey in Cevennes

I love this Robert Louis Stevenson story, it is amusingly written and tells, in part, of his woes with Modestine, his donkey, and her willful ways. For those who don’t know the story Stevenson set off to walk through the Cevennes region of France in autumn hence the muted colours. Again the image is downloaded from the internet and computer generated text. The inks are mainly Versamagic and Colorbox primary with the birds from Inkylicious Take Flight set stamped in black Archival. The red leaves are another Inkylicious stamp Oriental Awakening but I have no idea who to credit for the pine trees. Again the scene is on 300gsm smooth white card and the mounted onto black card.

I am thoroughly enjoying this challenge and hope to keep up with it! I also must visit more folks posts.
