Postcard

Over at UK Stampers the theme for February’s postcard is a song title or lyrics; I almost forgot this swap as we were having our bathroom done – it was totally gutted but is now, after a week, fully operational again! So having to contend with the plumber coming and going plus one mischievous puppy the swap flew out of my head.

I chose ‘Tea for Two’ for my theme, a very old song but I had been given some stamps of teapot and cups so now was the time to ink them up.02-16 Song titles

I have no idea who is the maker of these stamps. The text background and teabag stamp is from the Scene-velopes set. The ‘table’ is created by die cutting a piece of funky foam and inking up with Distress ink Vintage photo and stamping it in place after masking the teapot and cups.

Materials:

Inks – Distress Inks Vintage Photo; Fossilised Amber; Peacock Feathers.

Archival Jet Black

Stamps – Scene-velopes

Die cut oval shape

Computer generated text.

Postcard swap

Over on UK Stampers forum there is a monthly postcard swap run by the inestimable Sam Read.  The postcards are around 6 x 4 inches, as it is a stampers forum then stamping of some description should be on there and the cards must be suitable to go through the post ‘naked’ i.e. not in an envelope, so embellishments need to be firmly affixed.  It is fun to receive happy post and love seeing how the cards look in the flesh as it were. I have lots of beautiful works of art and now need to buy a photo album to store them all in.

For the last few swaps there hasn’t been a theme for the postcards and this I struggle with! This is what I came up with for this month’s swap:

September's postcard for the swap

Inks – Distress ink Spiced marmalade; Archival black ink; Versamagic Sahara Sand; Memento Desert Sand.
Stamps – Art Journey Clocks plate; Stamp Attack; Papermania Chronology; Cart-US;

Mostly Yellow

The theme for this month’s postcard swap at UK Stampers is Mostly Yellow with circles somewhere!

Postcard Swap

Postcard Swap

For some reason I don’t have much in the way of yellow inks and this 6 x 4 inch piece of card started off as an experiment which was then added to and became a postcard for the swap! I was fooling around with a brayer which had rubber bands wrapped around it, some embossing ink and silver detail embossing powder which explains the silver lines running across the card. Then using various ink shades and a piece of  sponge the background colour was added followed by a script stamp, a circle stamp then a marker cap dabbed into ink made further circles and finally a leaf flourish stamp. Some of the circles were highlighted with a white gel pen and a clear sparkly Sakura pen although the camera hasn’t picked up the sparkles! Hope the recipient won’t be too disappointed with my effort!

Postcard Swap

For some months now I have participated in a postcard swap on the UK  Stampers forum; some of the makes for the swap have been well within my capabilities but just occasionally Sam slips a blinder through that is a tad outside my comfort zone! It is all good fun though and there are few rules; as it is a stamping forum then stamping must appear somewhere on the postcard, postcards are approximately 6 x 4 inches but don’t have to be rectangular but they must be able to go through the postal system ‘naked’ – that is without an envelope so any embellishments must be well adhered but participants tend to keep the cards as flat as possible.

There isn’t a theme for this month – we can do whatever we want so I went with a grid postcard:

I was lucky enough to win some plates of Art Journey’s stamps so I gave one or two of those stamps an outing on this card! I used Versamagic Chalk Inks Red Magic and Mango Madness for the background colours, the stamps were inked with Memento Potter’s Clay and Archival Jet Black. The whole card was edged with Potter’s Clay to finish it off.

For February’s postcard swap Sam came up with Getting Emotional which really threw me in a spin! After much head scratching I went with a sad/happy card and found the theatrical mask on the internet and resized it. One half of the card shows a grey, rainy day with a happy spring time on the other half – a good compromise!

Name that song.

Over at UK Stampers forum there is a monthly postcard swap; the rules are few but the postcards must be able to go through the post ‘naked’…that is not in an envelope and the postcard be approximately 6 x 4 inches but that is not a hard and fast rule.

The theme this month set by Samantha Read is a favourite song or piece of music. There are some very good postcards posted on the forum already and here is mine:

Favourite song postcard

The most difficult aspect of this theme was choosing a favourite song….. I have so many favourites! Can you guess the song’s title?

I used an embossed resist with shades of blue ink sponged over; red stamped heart, a bottle top for the circles and swirls and the heart/moon image created in a graphics programme on the computer and printed out, a line from the song was computer generated, cut up, inked and adhered to the card.
